• swan is conquest/king of hearts aka the “suicide king” because he’s usually pictured cutting his own head off. his sense of self worth is heavily tied with his appearance and virginity, and he obsesses over the feeling of being desired but unobtainable at the same time; so to him love is mainly this thing that blinds people and turns them into mindless idiots. so in his mind those idiots deserve to have their weakness be used against themselves by a 16 years old who considers himself just a void black hole with a pretty face.
  
• skov is war/king of diamonds. love is this thing that turns people into completely different versions of themselves. he’s more about passion and adrenaline and something all-consuming, so once he’s set his eyes on someone, he wants them and he wants them now. he’s pretty much convinced that even if the other person says no he will somehow wear them down enough that they will see reason and give in to what he thinks it’s the inevitable. anything dimmer than that like crushes or the feeling of butterflies in his stomach mean nothing to him, he usually just equates them to flickering sexual attraction.
• jiang is famine/king of spades aka impartial and harsh judgement. love is this made up thing that people like to use to excuse themselves and their shitty actions. it’s this exhausting, bone dry thing that apparently it’s the only worthy reason to keep living for most people. and he’s not even sure he’ll be ever able to feel it, so he’d rather invest his energy in tangible things that actually make sense/he can trust.
• proko is death/king of clubs aka the most loyal puppy you’ll ever meet, easygoing on the outside but reserved on the inside. love is this big compromise you have to accept. he makes sure the power balance between him and the other person is as equal as possible, sometimes using ways that are not exactly morally acceptable, but he’ll take what he can get. sometimes the person he loves is shitty, but the feeling of actually loving them is so good that it’s worth it.
